Letters delivered!

Members of Indivisible Washington’s 8th District met with staffers for Rep. Kim Schrier (WA-CD8), and Senators Maria Cantwell and Patty Murray, urging them to be the opposition in the face of a law-breaking, defiant administration that has given power to a self-serving billionaire pursuing a dangerous agenda at the expense of everyday Americans – and so much more.

Our team was able to deliver

  • 80 letters to Representative Schrier
  • 83 letters to Senator Cantwell
  • 89 letters to Senator Murray

The volunteers who went on the delivery meetings were very enthusiastic and appreciated being able to take this action. New members who had never met with congressional staff learned a lot!

We got about 30 minutes with staff at each of our three visits.

We were cordial and polite, just firm. And we thanked staff for their work

Our message to Rep. Schrier, Senator Cantwell, and Senator Murray:

This is a coup. Be the opposition. Be focused and fearless. We will support you. Constituents are phoning you because we see immediate dangers to our privacy, health, and safety, and we are not seeing elected Democrats pushing back. We need to see Democrats united and standing against what the Republicans are doing.

No more business as usual. You are not the majority party in power, but you are not powerless. Use every tool you have to slow them down.

Musk, the current President and the Republicans are shutting down our government. They are firing federal workers, putting civil servants on leave, shutting them out of the workplace – illegally. This lawlessness must end.

The Republicans have proved they cannot be trusted, so Democrats must insist on assurances that any budget will be adhered to. Republicans have the majority. They do not need Democrats’ votes to pass a budget. If Democrats are presented with a budget that would allow Trump and his unelected co-president to do whatever they want with our taxpayer dollars, “No” is a complete sentence.

We thanked our members of Congress for beginning to speak out, counter misinformation, and push back on Trump’s nominees since the flood of constituent calls began. But we need to see more. Sen. Murray’s leadership earned her a special thanks – she recently signaled that she intends to use the leverage Democrats have with the budget.
