We march on…

We didn’t get the result we wanted on the recent budget fight (more on that below). Those of us who were in Indivisible for the first Trump administration know that we can’t win every fight, but this loss stings. We were betrayed by a lack of leadership in the Senate, which couldn’t organize itself to even try to fight. It will help to be in community with like-minded folks, so please join us for our sign waving rally in Issaquah Wednesday if you can.

March 19th – Sign waving for Medicaid (Apple Health) with SEIU

Medicaid (Apple Health) is under attack, and we must stand together to protect healthcare for millions!

While the budget resolution that passed last week does not use the word “Medicaid,” cutting this program is basically the only way to achieve the budget targets. It will be difficult to reverse this decision, but we need to fight for this vital program.

The impact of these cuts could be massive:

  • Home care hours cuts for seniors and people with disabilities
  • New eligibility restrictions and waitlists for receiving home and community-based services
  • Rollback of nursing home staffing requirements linked to cuts in nursing home funding
  • Elimination of special funding streams for safety net hospitals
  • Rolling back Medicaid eligibility would inundate safety net hospitals and other providers serving vulnerable communities with the newly uninsured, threatening the ability of safety net hospitals to stay open
  • Loss of health insurance coverage for low-income (ACA Medicaid expansion) adults
  • Because Medicaid funds over 40% births, a curtailment of these benefits could drive up infant and maternal mortality rates

We will be sign waving at the corner of East Lake Sammamish Parkway and SE 56th Street from noon to 1 pm. We need YOUR voice to show lawmakers that Medicaid is essential. Bring your energy, your signs, and your commitment to justice!

The weekly Musk or Us sign-wave is also continuing later in the afternoon.

April 5th – Save the date, details to come

This is the moment where we say NO. No more looting, no more stealing, no more billionaires raiding our government while working people struggle to survive. On April 5th, we take action. Across the country, thousands of people will march, rally, disrupt, and demand an end to this billionaire power grab. We’ll show up at state capitals, federal buildings, congressional offices, and city centers—anywhere we can make sure they hear us.

  • Hands off our Medicaid.
  • Hands off our Social Security.
  • Hands off our public lands.
  • Hands off our jobs.
  • Hands off public education.
  • Hands off veterans’ benefits.
  • Hands off our undocumented neighbors.
  • Hands off our trans siblings.
  • Hands off Ukraine aid.
  • Hands off our diversity programs.
  • Hands off Canada.
  • Hands off our reproductive rights.
  • Hands off our democracy.
  • Hands off _____.

Indivisible National is participating alongside a variety of other progressive organizations in this national day of protest against MAGA DOGE cuts.

We (our local Advisory and Rallies and Protests teams) are currently coordinating with other local groups to determine what this will look like for us. For now, save the date.

This event replaces our April community meeting so that people can attend.

We lost a big one on the budget

Chuck Schumer basically walked away without a fight and gave the Republicans everything they wanted in the recent budget battle. He has alienated the House Democrats who held firm and voted no, activists like us, and groups like the federal employee unions, the citizens of DC, and basically the American people as a whole.

Thank our representative and our senators for voting for us!

We very obviously did not get the result we wanted in the budget fight, but our Democratic representatives here in Washington did vote the right way for us. We need to call and thank them.

  • Call Representative Schrier’s office and thank her for voting no on the DOGE Budget.
  • Then call our Senators and thank them for voting NO on cloture and NO on the the DOGE Budget. (Cloture is the “filibuster vote” – this was Democrats’ chance to stop the bill despite the Republicans having a majority.)

Let them know that if they keep fighting for you, you’ll have their back.

And, while you’re on the phone, ask our congresswomen for their public appearance schedules during this March recess – We need to see them on the front lines holding town halls, listening to constituents, hearing from those who are and will be affected by DOGE cuts, and making the case that this extreme budget is terrible for the American people.

Hear about national’s next steps on Thursday

Indivisible National has called on Chuck Schumer to resign as Senate Minority Leader in favor of someone who will stand in strong opposition to Musk and Trump. This situation is fluid, and rapid action will be needed to preserve the momentum coming out of this failure to actually get a leadership change.
