Take Action this Week

President’s Day Rallies
There are a number of activities associated with President’s Day. Here are some that we know about:
- Join Evergreen Revolution on February 17th at noon at the Henry M Jackson Federal Building in Seattle Evergreen Revolution is affiliated with former volunteers for the Bernie Sanders Our Revolution campaign. Note: Indivisible Plus recommends avoiding the gathering at Westlake Center.
- Join Covington Indivisible Monday February 17th at Covington City Hall at noon.
- Join Snohomish Indivisible Monday February 17th at the Everett Social Security Administration at 4:30 This event will include a food drive, please bring non-perishable items. Be aware that the problematic organization Refuse Fascism is trying to hijack this gathering – do not give your name or contact info to that organization (or really any stranger trying to gain your trust at a protest).
- The 50501 movement is holding a rally in Olympia at the Tivoli Fountain. Unfortunately, their messaging says at noon, and Planned Parenthood Legislative Action has a reserved permit at that time/location until 2:00. Olympia Indivisible is suggesting folks gather there at 2:00 instead to avoid conflicts.
- Indivisible Valley is starting weekly protests on Wednesday, February 19th directed at Musk on the sidewalks in front of his Starlink complex. Located at Redmond Ridge Drive and Novelty Hill. Every Wednesday from 4 till dusk or when the traffic dies down. We would love to see members from other Indivisible groups join us.
- Please park on the side streets and not in business parking lots. Signs should be directed specifically at Musk. Do not impede traffic. Do not enter the complex or the complex parking lots.
Senator Cantwell Staff Zoom Call
Seattle Indivisible is hosting an online meeting with Senator Cantwell’s staff at 1:00 on Februrary 18th. All WA state Indivisibles are invited! Let’s see a big turnout! Senate Democrats do not have a majority, but they can play hardball to delay and defy Trump’s agenda. Learn more with this explainer from National.
Reminder: Indivisible National is asking our Senators to agree to vote NO on every Trump nominee until the Musk/DOGE lawlessness stops. Since the Russell Vought confirmation, Sen Cantwell has been voting NO on subsequent nominees: Thank her and tell her to keep it up.
Rep Schrier District Work Period
The House is in recess for President’s Day until Feb 23rd, and Rep Schrier should be in-district. Watch our Facebook group for any info on town halls, etc. If you see her at an event, Indivisible is asking our representatives to:
- Commit to voting NO on any budget that lets Musk and Trump override Congress
- Speaker Johnson has a bunch of radical right-wingers in his caucus who are playing hardball to pass radical cuts to social safety nets such as Medicare, Medicaid, and SNAP to fund more tax breaks for the wealthiest. If he wants a less radical budget, he needs Democratic votes. We need our Democrats to say loudly and clearly, “No vote from me until the Musk/DOGE lawlessness stops.”
- Commit to voting NO on any budget that contains “poison pills” attacking abortion rights, LGBTQ+ protections, or immigrant communities.
- We hate to say it, but Kim was a ‘yes’ on the Defense Authorization Act with an anti-trans poison pill as well as a ‘yes’ on the horrible anti-immigrant Laken Riley Act that strips immigrants accused (not convicted!) of (even minor) crimes of due process under the law. Thursday, she voted with the GOP on passage of the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Protection Act, another extremist bill which creates additional, severe penalties for attempting to evade arrest by ICE or someone supporting an ICE officer.

Bonus action: We also need to demand better from Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.
