“The ballots are here! The ballots are here!”

Time to Get Out Every Single Vote! 

It’s crunch time and this week, we’re starting with a “what NOT to do:” 
Don’t wait for the polls to tell you everything is gonna be ok. DO SOMETHING!

Every poll you’ve read likely has Harris and Trump locked in a dead heat that’s too close for comfort. No one’s pulling ahead, folks, and wishing on a star won’t cut it. The battlegrounds are going to stay within the margin of error through Election Day. 

The polls show that things are this tight because, well,  it really appears things are this tight. And that means the outcome of this election will be determined by the work we do over these next few weeks. 

It’s our ground game versus theirs and literally every voter you talk to matters. That’s not just rhetoric. In 2020, Biden’s margin in Wisconsin came down to 3 voters per ward. Do you doubt that you can help turnout 3 voters between now and November 5? We know you can. We’ve got the tools to help you do it. 

With that, here are your weekly to-dos: 

• Turn in your ballot and then send an email to your friends about the candidates.
  Voting early is WIN/WIN – it means that you will be taken off the calls lists, you’ll (mostly) stop getting email AND that the campaigns can use that energy to reach out to folks that haven’t voted yet.
  
  
• Share the Progressive Voter’s Guide with your friends and tell THEM to vote early! The guide recommends candidates to support and gives a brief review of their opponents here in Washington as well as in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
  
  
• Send an email to your friends about the initiatives.
  Defend Washington has put together two sample emails you can use to send to your friends or organizational membership about why we should vote No on all four initiatives. 
  
  
• Join a Phonebank Training 
  Never phone banked before and want to learn what it’s like before you jump in? In just 30 minutes, learn how to make calls to voters in Pennsylvania on your schedule with the PA Call Crew. Multiple days and times to sign up!
  
  
• Then Join a Phone Bank!
  Got a phone and a computer? Good. It’s your new weapon. Charm the socks off strangers and turn a maybe into a definitely! Your voice, their vote. There are phonebanks lined up every week from now until Election Day…choose the one(s) that work best for you, and get ready to make some calls. 
  All Day Phonebank: Call PA Voters Anytime!, Indivisible Phonebanks in Swing States, or Harris-Walz Voter Protection Phone Bank to talk to voters about their registration and/or cure ballots in places where early voting has begun.

As of this week, early voting has begun in the majority of states across our nation and hundreds of thousands of voters are breaking early voting records. This is good news for us! 
Let’s do all we can to keep this trend going and make this a blow out election cycle that will make it impossible for MAGA Republicans to push back on with their anticipated voter suppression shenanigans!
