Margin of Error or Margin of Effort?
As the general election looms large in all of our minds these final weeks, Indivisible co-founder Leah Greenberg had this response when asked by Chris Hayes what Indivisible is recommending that people do if they’re feeling a lot of anxiety about the outcome of the election or spending too much time watching the polls.
“When an election is within the margin of error, it is also within the margin of effort and the margin of effort is fundamentally is how many voters do we contact, how many conversations we have, how many people turn out.
What we know is there is no better cure for that anxiety, there’s no better cure for that sense of dread than getting out there and talking to some actual voters. You have interesting conversations but more important, you’re actually doing something and you can feel the progress you’re making on the ground. . . . But get started somewhere.”
So if that’s you and you’re not sure what to do, Indivisible has tools to match you up with voters in your immediate neighborhood, to contact voters in LD-5 or CD-8 or if you’re Interested in helping turn out Blue voters in swing states, we can help you contact voters there, too. Here’s a menu of opportunities for YOUR Margin of Effort in these weeks leading up to November 5th!
