#TakeAction 2 – Demand Congress protect the Postal Service
“The Postal Service helps define our nation; losing it would be devastating”
Call our members of Congress, ask them to protect the USPS in the next Coronavirus relief bill; the Postal Service needs help.
Background: U.S. Postal Service could be gone in a few months unless Congress provides emergency funding to secure this crucial public service.
The Postal Service’s decades-long financial troubles have worsened dramatically as the volume of the kind of mail that pays the agency’s bills ― first-class and marketing mail ― withers during the pandemic. The USPS needs an infusion of money, and the President has blocked potential emergency funding for the agency that employs around 600,000 workers.
