Date: Call today. This bill must pass out of the Senate Ways & Means Committee by the close of business Tuesday, 11 February.
Action: Call your WA senator on the Ways & Means Committee: Randi Becker (LD2); Mark Mullet (LD5); Bob Hasegawa (LD11); Judy Warnick (LD13); Karen Keiser (LD33).
If your senator is not on the Ways & Means Committee, call the Committee Chair Christine Rolfes. Urge them to approve SB 6288 – Office of firearm violence prevention today in the Ways & Means Committee.
Background: The Washington Office of Firearm Violence Prevention will be created within the Department of Commerce to coordinate and promote effective state and local efforts to reduce firearm violence. Its duties will include working with law enforcement, researching prevention strategies, and supporting firearm violence victim services.
